Gate exchange is currently running a Launchpad. In this post, we'll look at how to join a Launchpad token sale, and, through a real example, how tokens are allocated and how your assets are handled after you participate.

How to join a Gate Launchpad

What is the Gate Exchange Launchpad?

The Gate exchange Launchpad is an event where you can buy tokens from promising new projects selected by the exchange at a low price before they are officially listed.

You can usually participate with the stablecoin USDT or with GT tokens, and the more popular the project, the more participants it attracts and the higher the competition.

Signing Up for Gate and Completing KYC

To join a Launchpad, you need a Gate exchange account and must complete Level 2 identity verification (KYC).

How to Join a Launchpad

1. Log in to Gate and click 'Earn' - 'Launchpad' in the menu.

How to access Gate Launchpad

2. Choose the project you want from the Launchpad projects currently in progress.

Selecting an ongoing Launchpad project

3. Click the [Commit Now] button. Enter the amount you want to commit (USDT or GT), then press the confirm button to complete your subscription.

Subscribing to a Gate Launchpad token sale

After you subscribe, the assets you entered are temporarily locked. Once the Launchpad ends, depending on the result, you receive tokens and the corresponding amount is deducted if successful, or you get a full refund if not.

The number of tokens you actually receive after subscribing is calculated based on 'your subscription amount as a share of the total amount raised.' So exactly how many tokens will you be allocated?

How Much Do You Get If You Commit $10,000?

Let's assume you subscribed $10,000 to the Puffverse (PFVS) project currently running on the Gate exchange Launchpad. The token sale terms for this project are as follows.

  • Token price: 1 PFVS = 0.07 USDT
  • Total tokens offered: 10,000,000 PFVS
  • Maximum allocation per user: 10,000 PFVS (proportional allocation based on competition)

The key point here is that Gate Launchpad uses proportional allocation based on competition. This means the more people participate, the smaller your allocation may be.

For example, let's say a flood of participants pushed the total raised to 30,000,000 USDT. In that case, your share of the total would be 10,000 ÷ 30,000,000 = 0.033%.

If tokens are allocated according to this share, you'd receive roughly 3,300 PFVS out of the 10,000,000 PFVS distributed in total. Since each token costs 0.07 USDT, the final deduction would be 231 USDT, the value of 3,300 PFVS.

In other words, even though you subscribed 10,000 USDT to the Gate Launchpad, when competition is extremely high only about 231 USDT is actually used, and the remaining 9,769 USDT is automatically refunded.

Also, since this project allows a maximum of 10,000 PFVS per user, your allocation can never exceed 10,000 PFVS no matter how high your contribution share is.

Checking Launchpad Results and Receiving Tokens

Once the Launchpad subscription closes, allocation results are announced within a few hours. You can check your participation history, and your assets are handled as follows.

  • If allocated: The allocated PFVS tokens are automatically credited to your spot wallet, and the corresponding USDT or GT is deducted.
  • If not allocated, or if the allocation is only a fraction of a token: Your committed assets are refunded in full.

Final Thoughts

The Gate exchange Launchpad can be an opportunity to secure tokens from new projects early and at a low price. However, since these projects are still in their early stages, be sure to check the following before you participate.

  • Do you fully understand the project's whitepaper and tokenomics?
  • Are you only committing an amount you can actually afford to lose?
  • Do you clearly understand how deductions work if your subscription succeeds, and what the refund conditions are?

If you check these points before participating, you can greatly reduce your chances of a bad outcome with a Launchpad. For more details and the list of projects currently in progress, visit the Gate Launchpad page.
