When Binance runs a Launchpad, it calculates your daily average BNB balance. Many of you are probably wondering which BNB counts toward that average, and where and how you need to hold it. I've put together everything: what's included in the balance calculation, what's excluded, and how the calculation works.

Wallet Balances Included in Binance's Daily Average BNB Holdings

The following wallet balances are included when calculating the daily average BNB balance.

  • Spot account wallet
  • Margin account wallet
  • Sub-account wallet
  • Binance Savings account wallet
  • BNB Vault account wallet
  • Binance Fiat account wallet
  • Futures wallet
  • Binance Card wallet
  • Launchpool account wallet

What's Excluded from Binance's Daily Average BNB Holdings

The following are not included when calculating the daily average BNB balance.

  • BNB deposited in Liquid Swap
  • BNB in Locked Staking
  • BNB deposited in DeFi products

Balances included and not included in the BNB calculation

The daily average BNB balance calculation was recently updated, so balances in all accounts linked to your Binance account are now included. In other words, balances that used to be excluded, such as DeFi Staking, Locked Staking, and Liquid Swap, now also count toward the Launchpad and Launchpool calculations.

How Binance Calculates the Daily Average BNB Balance

The daily average BNB balance works like this: a snapshot is taken at a random time every hour, all of the snapshot balances for the day are added up, and the total is divided by 24. Put simply, (if you don't trade often) you can think of it as the average BNB balance you held across your various wallets over 24 hours.

However, your BNB balance can sometimes be negative, for example when you borrow on margin. Since the balance is averaged as the sum across all wallets, a negative balance in one wallet could cause your final BNB holdings to be calculated as 0, so please keep that in mind. For reference, BNB in pending orders is included in your holdings.
