Hello, this is Bitpunk. In this post, I'll give you a complete rundown of everything related to Binance referrals: the referral discount, the commission structure, the maximum rates, the updated policy, and more.

How do you get the Binance referral discount?

If you enter the referral code ABV8BWDG when signing up for the Binance exchange, you get a 20% discount on trading fees. This benefit keeps applying for as long as the Binance referral program remains valid.

The link above takes you to a sign-up page with the maximum fee discount code already applied. The referral code can only be entered once at sign-up and cannot be changed later.

So, as shown below, it's important to check for yourself that the correct referral code and discount rate have been applied when you sign up for Binance. Be sure to check that the 20% commission rate text is displayed properly during sign-up.

How do you check the referral code you entered and your discount rate?

To check the referral code you entered when signing up for Binance, first go to the Binance referral page. Next, switch to 'Referral Pro' mode.

Switching to Binance Referral Pro mode

If you scroll down, you can see your fee discount rate in the 'My Inviter' section. Here you can check the referral code you entered at sign-up and your rebate rate (fee discount).

How is the Binance referral program structured?

The Binance referral program works like this: when you invite a user with your referral code, part of the trading fees that trader pays goes to you, the inviter.

For example, let's say User A invited User B with a referral link. A receives a portion of B's trading fees (up to 50%), and B can get up to a 20% fee discount through A's invite code.

You can use either a spot or a futures referral link. If you sign up with one of the two codes, the other is applied automatically. In other words, signing up with a spot referral code also counts as a futures referral, and signing up with a futures referral code also counts as a spot referral.

For reference, in a previous post I covered how to create a Binance referral code. If you need more information, it might be worth checking out that link as well.

How do you raise your Binance referral rate?

Binance referrals are broadly divided into spot and futures. Spot includes margin trading. The structure is the same, but the invite codes and the rates at which fees are split differ.

Previously, Binance offered a referral rate of up to 50% to users holding 500 BNB or more. However, starting in August 2025, this changed to a system where rates are adjusted through a new tier and grade structure.

Category Previous New (after August 2025)
Maximum commission rate 50% (BNB holders) 50% (anyone, based on performance)
Evaluation method Manual / application required Automatic / evaluated daily
Downgrades Possible at any time Only in 3-month intervals
Fee discount (invitee) Up to 20% Up to 20% (no change)
Spot commission period Unlimited Unlimited
Futures commission period Up to 12 months Paid indefinitely

Here are the key points. First, the previous BNB holding requirement is gone and has been replaced with a performance-based system. Also, futures commissions, which used to be capped at 12 months, are now paid indefinitely.

(1) Futures referral commission tier structure

Binance uses a futures referral tier structure that offers up to 50% commission. To reach the maximum rate of 50%, you need to be in tier T3.

To get there, you need at least $500M in trading volume over the last 3 months and at least 15 new users invited. Here, a new user means 'a user who made their first futures trade within the last 3 months.'

Tier Commission rate 3-month futures volume New users Commission validity
T0 10% None None 1 year
T1 30% $1M or more 3 or more Unlimited
T2 40% $25M or more 10 or more Unlimited
T3 50% $500M or more 15 or more Unlimited

(2) Spot referral commission tier structure

For spot and margin trading, the commission rate is also adjusted based on the following four tiers. For example, to receive the maximum spot commission rate of 50%, you need to reach tier T3. To do that, you need to invite at least 15 new users and reach at least $30M in trading volume.

Tier Commission rate 3-month volume (spot and margin) New users
T0 20% None None
T1 30% $200K or more 3 or more
T2 41% $2.5M or more 10 or more
T3 50% $30M or more 15 or more

What are the maximum Binance referral discount and commission rates?

If you looked closely at the tables above, you'll have noticed that the maximum referral rate Binance offers is 50%, and the rate you can pass on to a friend as a discount is 20%. Many people get this confused, but the maximum discount rate you can offer is indeed 20%.

In that case, based on tier T3, your own commission rate can range from a maximum of 50% down to a minimum of 30%. The inviter can freely adjust this split, and if your tier drops, the benefit given to the inviter takes priority.

Can you register or change a referral ID after signing up?

Many people sign up for Binance without entering a referral code, or enter a 0%, 5%, or 10% referral code ID, and then want to switch to the maximum discount rate of 20%.

In principle, registering or changing a referral ID code after sign-up is not possible. That's why it's important to correctly enter a 20% discount referral code when signing up.

How do you check your referral commission history?

If you've invited friends with a referral, you can check the earnings paid out under [Referral] - [Commision Rebate]. Referral earnings are settled every hour, and you can also view them visually through the settlement chart.

However, settlement may be delayed longer than usual in special circumstances, such as system updates and maintenance, or increased traffic due to market volatility.

What if your referral commission isn't coming in?

Sometimes referral commission isn't paid even though you invited a friend with the correct referral code. In that case, you need to check a few things carefully.

First, to receive referral commission from a friend, their account level must be a regular user or VIP1. If your friend's account level becomes VIP2 or higher, referral commission will no longer come in.

Also, if your commission tier (T0–T3), which is adjusted in 3-month intervals, drops, the discount benefit given to the inviter takes priority. As a result, the commission you were previously receiving may stop altogether. In that case, you need to raise your tier again to increase your commission rate.

Finally, it's also a good idea to double-check that your own futures account has been opened first, since that's required to receive futures commission.

What's the difference between referral commission and rebate?

The referral commission rate and the rebate rate are both parts of the referral bonus. The commission is what the inviter receives, and the rebate (fee discount) is what the trader (friend) who made the trades receives.

When are referral commission rates updated?

Commission rates in the Binance referral program are calculated daily at 02:00 (UTC) and updated at 10:00 (UTC). In Korea time, they're calculated every morning at 11 AM and updated at 9 PM.

How do you create and check a referral link?

To check your own referral link, go to the [Dashboard] - [Referral] section. Here you can add a new referral code, set your default referral code, and configure the rates.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. Can I change my Binance referral code after signing up?
No. A Binance referral code can only be entered once at sign-up and cannot be changed afterward. If you want a fee discount, it's important to enter the correct referral code before you sign up.
Q2. Do I need to enter separate referral codes for spot and futures?
No. Entering just one referral code applies it automatically to both spot and futures. For example, if you sign up with a spot code, the same discount/commission structure applies to futures as well.
Q3. What's the maximum fee discount rate I can give a friend?
The discount rate an inviter can set is up to 20%. The remaining rate goes to the inviter as commission. The total of the discount and commission varies by tier.
Q4. How often are Referral Pro commissions settled?
Binance commissions are settled automatically every hour and can be checked in real time on the dashboard. However, they may be reflected somewhat later during server maintenance or network delays.
Q5. What happens to my referral commission if a new user reaches VIP2 or higher?
If an invited user is upgraded to VIP2 or higher, commission from that user is no longer paid. This is a fixed Binance policy.
Q6. What should I check if futures commission isn't coming in?
Futures trading commission is paid only after the invited friend opens a futures account and makes their first futures trade. Also, the invited user must be a regular user or at VIP1 level or below for commission to be received.
Q7. When and how are tiers updated?
An automatic evaluation based on trading volume and number of invited users takes place every day at 08:00 UTC (5 PM Korea time). If you meet the requirements, your tier is automatically upgraded the next day, while downgrades are only applied in 3-month intervals.
Q8. Is there an application process for Binance Referral Pro or the affiliate program?
No. Since 2025, it has changed to an automatic participation structure with no application needed. The Binance system automatically calculates your performance and assigns a tier, and anyone can participate without separate documents or administrator approval.

Wrapping Up

That covers the information related to Binance referrals. If you found this post helpful, please tap the heart below. Since August 2025, the Binance referral program has been newly updated.

Previously, all you had to do for a higher commission rate was hold 500 BNB or more. Now, it has changed so that your tier (grade) and commission rate are adjusted dynamically based on the new users you invited and the trading volume over the last 3 months.
