When the discount is applied during Bybit sign-up, the referral code field turns green as shown below, and a message about the discount rate appears.

At this point, be sure to check that the Bybit 20% discount referral code 7889 has been entered correctly, as shown below!

If the green box doesn't appear as in the image above, or if it doesn't say 'You will receive a 20% fee discount for 90days', you shouldn't use that referral code.

The maximum referral fee discount you can get when signing up for Bybit is 20%. Any 30% or 40% discount claims are false, and there are also referral codes that only give a 5% or 10% discount. So, to get the maximum discount, you need to enter the correct referral code, 7889, when you sign up.

How to Check That the Referral Discount Is Applied

Want to make sure you're actually getting the referral discount on the Bybit exchange? You can check the discount yourself in your trade history.

First, Bybit's base fees are 0.01% for limit orders and 0.06% for market orders. With the 20% discount applied, they become 0.008% for limit orders and 0.048% for market orders. If the discount has been applied correctly, you should only be paying the latter fees, right?

Here's how to check your trade history in detail to see whether the fee discount has really been applied on the Bybit exchange.

1. Log in to Bybit.
2. In the [Orders] menu, select [Spot Order] or [Derivatives Order].
3. Click [Trade History] on the left.
4. If [Fee Rate] shows 0.048%, the discount is being applied correctly!

Can You Change Your Bybit Referral Code?

Did you sign up with a code that gives 15% instead of 20%, or no discount at all? Unfortunately, a referral code can only be entered once, at sign-up.

But that doesn't mean there's no way at all. It's a bit of a hassle, but to change your Bybit referral code, you can reset your KYC and sign up again. After logging in to Bybit, go to [Account & Security] - [Identity Verification] on the right.

Scroll down the page and click [Identity Transfer]. This is the preparation step for resetting the KYC on your current account and creating a new Bybit account.

Clicking [Identity Transfer] as shown below starts the KYC transfer verification process. You'll see a notice about your account activity being suspended due to the KYC reset, along with the terms.

If you agree to the KYC transfer, you can't reapply for 180 days, and you won't be able to receive the new sign-up bonus. However, you can still get the 20% fee discount.

At this step, you need to complete [Face Verification] to confirm that you're the one making the request.

Your Bybit account KYC transfer and reset request is now complete. Once the KYC reset has fully gone through, you can sign up for Bybit again and create a new account.
